Lake Centralia

Lake Centralia offers one of the area's most scenic destinations for boating, fishing, and outdoor recreation.

Located just east of Centralia, this 400-acre lake provides miles of shoreline, open water, and peaceful surroundings that make it a favorite spot for both residents and visitors. The lake was originally constructed in 1910 as a water supply reservoir for the City of Centralia and continues to serve the community today.

Lake Centralia is a popular destination for anglers, with healthy populations of largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and channel catfish. Fishing tournaments are held throughout the year, and the lake is regularly surveyed and stocked in partnership with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Boating is another favorite activity on the lake. Visitors can enjoy everything from fishing boats and pontoons to personal watercraft, taking advantage of the lake's open waters and picturesque coves. Public boat access is available, and city permits are required for motorized watercraft.

Whether you're casting a line at sunrise, spending an afternoon on the water with family, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of Southern Illinois, Lake Centralia provides a relaxing escape just minutes from downtown Centralia.
